We've already had one tropical system, but it stayed offshore.

Time to start stocking up on extra canned goods and other hurricane prep items.

Just curious what dose all the smart guys do with all the boat left in the water to keep them safe when a big storm like that comes by? Do you know any one that goes thru all that, I have seen photos of boats washed up on land, What Happens to all them boats after the storms?:)

Re: Hurricane season starts today

Good question.

For me, I don't live in a flood area, so having the boat(s) get washed away is not an issue. I don't know how other guys deal with that though. Maybe they trailer them to higher ground?

IF a big storm starts bearing down on me, I'll anchor the trailer to the ground with screw-in type anchors, like those used for dog chains. Will also strap the boat tightly to the trailer. Flying debris will be the only issue then. My home is situated such that the high speed winds won't hit directly, so the only real risk are from roiling winds. Those can be dangerous, but the odds of a direct hit are extremely small.

Ideally, an underground bunker would be best! LOL! :D

Mobile home tied downs are great for securing boat and trailers, during the storms. boats that are not trailerable, with enough warning are moved to other areas of the state. those left are tied the best they can be. and hope, and insurance is the key. most boats that are sunk, are totaled. some are repairable.
