Hurricane-

Hi folks!

Now, what should I do to my 16 foot Larson bow-rider parked next to my dock in Fort Liquordale if I have a hurricane?

I keep the battery charged via weekly/nightly trips around the Almar canal, a section 205 feet wide and 1/2 mile long. Manatees abound, and I operate my Larson and its 85 HP Yamaha accordingly.

Now: Durig a hurricane, what do I do? I have the "Happy Pelican" tied up at my dock, and it happily goes up and down...but what to do in a hurricane?

Thanx!

N!

Re: Hurricane-

For a boat that size, I'd purchase a trailer and move it to a protected area away from the hurricane path.

I agree, get a trailer and take it out of the water, I was on a large ship when I was in the service, going across the Atlantic and we went through a hurricane, it was not fun! I can imagine what it might do to a small runabout!

For a 23footer and a 35footer I have a contract with a local marina to pull her. I pay $300 a year for each or $200 per pull. There are plenty in your area too. Fingers crossed.

If you put it on a trailer park it up close to the house and put 4-6" of water inside to weight it down. That will secure it from most blows. However if one like Andrew comes through your area the only protection is to make sure that your insurance is current.

I sold a 27'er on a trailer three weeks before Andrew. My next door neighbor had his 26'er blown about 100 yards from his house. You can kiss a 16'er goodby.
