Looking for input in this boat.
It has a 225 Johnson outboard.
Intended to use it around Tampa Bay and up to 10 miles offshore.
Is a good riding hull?
Dry?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks !!!

Re: Hydra-sports 22 Dual console 1989 advise

Welcome to iboats.

I am not familiar with that boat however, it really depends on a few things.

Condition of the boat and your skill level. I have see water turn from glass to vicious in under 5 minutes....... from calm to deadly.

Your experience level with boats and the required maintenance is key. http://forums.iboats.com/boat-topic...help-buying-boat-buyers-checklist-635170.html is a collection of things to check. If you are above your head I would suggest that you hire a qualified person to do a marine survey

Good luck

Re: Hydra-sports 22 Dual console 1989 advise

Only Hydra-sport I ever saw was what looked to be about a 17' Bass Boat, really sharp, had a 150 blue band "tower" driving it......that dates it to around mid 80's time frame. The boat was passing me at a high rate of speed (9.9 hp on a 14' alum boat) and as he crossed my wake he went airborne and the only thing in the water was the prop and skeg. I doubt you would want that to go offshore.

However, if the model you are looking at has a hull suited for big water then that's a different story. I know the badge has been around and one hears of them from time to time but have no idea as to quality, nor the care/lack thereof the one you are thinking of.

Best I can do.

I have the 18 foot model (1988 1800 DC) . Picked it up about 9 years ago mostly used in fresh water. I repowered from Johnson 150 to Etec 130 and use it in the northern GOM and love it. It's not bone dry but I added smart tabs and that helped immensely. Very solid hull. You'll be fine in Tampa Bay and offshore. Get the Transom checks out good.

Thanks for all the responses.
I have some experience with boats, but needed info about this hull.
I hate pounding, wet boats.
The boat is in good shape. Now I am doing some re-finishing shores (teak, electronics, bilge pump, etc).SAM_3980.jpgSAM_3979.jpgSAM_3981.jpgSAM_3983.jpgSAM_3996.jpg

Boy if that sucker won't take you offshore I'd like to know what would. Really like the deep V and bow flare. Got to work at it to have a rough ride and get wet.

Very nice!

Maybe you misunderstood me. I was referring to the fact that hull looks to be perfect for big water and if you wanted to get bounced around and sopping wet you would have to do something stupid (for lack of a better word).
