I have a tilt cylinder and a trim cylinder both unhooked from the bracket and the hydraulic lines. How should these cylinders perform when unhooked? How would I test to see if they are still good? the tilt cylinder has a springy return when pulled on and holes pluged, but the trim cylinder does not so that leads me to beleive the trim one is bad, but just wanted other opinions before puchasing a new one

Re: Hydraulic cylinder Question

A factory manual would be cheaper, theres 40 pages dedicated to the tilt setup. It states to remove the whole kiboodle and run it on the bench to test.

Then get a rebuild seal kit and go at it, its probably simpler just to go through the whole thing and re-do all the seals.
The hardest part is getting the unit off the bracket.

Are you sure you don't just have an air pocket in the system?
I bled mine , topped it up and it started working.
