i have a seastar system on my boat, turning the yamaha f225 on a bracket.

yesterday i noticed while on plane, i could feel and hear a sort of "hum" coming from the steering when turning to port. not there when turning to starboard.

off of plane, it goes away. turns effortlessly in both directions.

no idea if this was here when i bought the boat, or if it's something new. any suggestions where to look first? not too fluent in these systems just yet. thanks-

Re: hydraulic steering issue

Matttt, from what I have read it seems that a small amount of chatter, or hum is normal because of the torque of the motor. I've been looking into Seastar because mine is leaking. I have found a printable owners manual, and also a FAQ and tech updates on their website. This should help you out.
