Re: hydraulic steering

You operate in fresh water so corrosion shouldn't be a problem. The grease on the cable end will gunk up and make it stiff and hard to steer.
I have a 1988, 21 with twin force and it was too much for the single steering cable.
It lasted 1-2 seasons and broke while out about 20 miles out in the Atlantic.
I replaced it with hydrolic and havent had a problem since.
If you change or don't,make sure you spray with WD-40.It will help a lot.
When they rig new boats some dealers use grease or anti-seeze(usually very thick)and it will congeal.Take your steering apart and clean all the goop out and re-assemble with oil or a thin lithium.Jerry
