Can the trim on this motor be rebuilt or am I better off replacing it with whole thing.. it is acting like the seals in the cylinder are leaking by, you raise the motor and it slowly lowers by itself..

I would look for a good shop to check it out...they can be rebuilt. A new one is well over $1500.00. Probably jus a seal. Have you tried adding more fluid? :(

Hello Mumblerone,
You sound like someone who is experienced with Johnson Tilt/trim problems. I have an 1986 115 Johnson V4 where neither the trim or tilt will
go out (up). Motor runs ok in both directions, but motor and pump just whines when I try to go up. Fluid level is ok. Can you help narrow the problem?
Thanks.

dgates...be glad to help if I could. My experiece is limited to the problems , I've had over the years. Not sure about yours. This is a great site and I'm sure someone will get back to you. If not in a timely manner...repost. Have a good day. :(
