1972 Evinrude 65 hp hydro electric.

Had water in the foot and would not shift. Decided that I would change all of the seals and gaskets, and that I would go ahead and do the water pump while I was at it (glad I ordered that impeller the old one was BAD).

Problem that I have is I can not get the little metal plunger on the bottom of the solenoids to drop back in the hole that I believe it is supposed to.

Is there an adjustment or anything?

I bought the wrong danged manual I got one for a hydro mechanical  Solenoids click and and seem to work fine I just need to know how in the heck they reinstall. I am stumped is there a way to line them up? in the bottom of the bottom spring there is a plastic piece and a separate metal (plunger?) that it looks as if ball on the plunger slides and locks into the plastic piece and then the round flat part on the plunger slides down into a passage then it all slides into places and bolts down, however that round flat piece on the plunger doesn't appear to fit in that passageway so how do I do this?

PS I ONLY use type C/premium blend oil in the lower.

Very carefully. The plunger has to fit in the oil pump. Get as much light down there as you can and be patient. I've done a lot of them and sometimes it can be a Bit....h.

Soo am I on the right track then the ball on the plunger fits in the plastic piece in the spring then the round disc on the opposite end of the plunger fits down in the oil pump then? problem is everytime I try to push it in there it just rotates to the side GRRRR.
