Do you guys have any input to hydro foils as to whether they are worth the money and hassle?

Re: Hydro Foil

It all depends on the application. They help lift, they reduce top speed due to increased drag, they mess with handling in some cases, and thin cast aluminum is poorly suited to carrying a load.

Re: Hydro Foil

I was thinking about the one from BassPro that clamps on, That way if I do not like it I can take it off. I just didnt know if it would worth the hassle. I am trying to get my Targa out of the water a little.

Re: Hydro Foil

I've had excellent luck with Doelfins on to different boats.
Vastly inproved planing, less bow rise, better planing at lower power, improved handling at speed.I couldn't tell the difference in speed without a speedo. That being said It should be considered a last resort after careful trim, set up and weight placement. The very best solution is something like smart tabs far and away better than a foil.Amazing improvement in all aspects of boat performance.Be careful with a clamp on that you don't crack or distort the anti vent plate.
