It's been my experience that unless your boat is severely underpowered, they are useless. I used to drive a ski boat for a job (great job, huh?) and my employer decided to put one on the motor, a 90 hp. It helped the boat plane a bit faster, but that was it; and, I didn't like the way it changed the boat's handling at high speeds. If those stabilizers really did any good, the manufacturers would build them that way to start with.
