Ive had good luck with 2 different applications
with Doelfin hydrofoils. Before the fin you should be sure the motor is trimmed right.Antivent plate should be approximately even with the bottom of the boat. Then trim upwards 1/4 inch at a time depending on results.Be sure there isnt too much weight in the stern. When properly installed the boat will get on plane much easier
and stay on plane with less power. The bow will stay down better. You will probably lose a little top end.We used them on an 18ft Cobia 120hp I/O
and a 15ft Starcraft 50hp outboard with basically the same results. They say they use more fuel.I believe at planing speed they will get better mileage because you can stay on plane with less power.Ive heard they can break the anti ventilation plate but ours didnt under some pretty severe conditions. They should be considered a comprmise application but based on the ease of instalation and price they are pretty effective.

I pulled hydrofoils off of my two boats. I replaced them with SmartTabs ( or you could choose any tab system). I've had hydrofoils on my last 4 boats. In all cases, the hydrofoils helped.

In my current two boats, I believe that tabs ( any tabs ) are a far better way to produce a better hole shot; fast planing; planing at lower rpm's; no loss of speed...etc. RichG TX
