Hydrofoil?

I just inquired a 1967 Penn Yan 17ft and have been out about 5-6 times now and it runs fine but when i get up on plane it becomes tipy.Woundering if a hydrofoil would work to help stabalize the boat better.it has a 120hp mercruiser.Any suggestions?

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... If it were to help at all,... Smart tabs does it Waayyy Better...

Based on the description of your "problem", neither tabs nor a foil would be the solution. You need a bigger boat!

I have used these on all my boats for some time. 00441.jpg The name is the Doel Fin.

"tippy" do you mean it leans one way or the other or handles strangely when turning?
Does the boat seem to plane almost instantly but then lay down flat like its glued to the water?
Does it respond to up trim?Do you rim up for best speed/rpm?
