The best material is going to be stainless for performance. Nothing will be able to match it because it can be made thinner for the same strength. I personally have never seen a carbon prop in person but would imagine it has to be pretty thick(drag).

my current aluminum props were used when I got them 3 years ago... they are likely 10 years old

If you have to replace comps every year, even stainless would be cheaper as they would likely last longer than the boat

already have plan to get the Piranha composite ones for my future yet-to-be mine boat (hopefully a Regal 2760 or a Sundancer 280 in a month or so).

Got to be kidding Me . has not bought the boat. WTH

Re: Hydrofoils & 4 blades prop

I always wonder about the benefit of 4 blade props. If they are so good, why don't boats come from the manufacturer with them?

As stated, my guess is the top speed penalty or the fact that boat manufacturer's usually test their boats minimally loaded, where a four blade will not provide much benefit.

I have a four blade on my boat and greatly prefer it to the three blade that Stingray put on it at the factory. Even though the boat performed nicely with the original 3 blade, the quicker planing time and ability to plane at a lower speed with the four blade was surprising. The three blade prop is relegated to spare duty only now.
