Hydrofoils

I have a fairly heavy bay boat with a 150 hp Merc. Power to weight ration is acceptable at best. Has anyone tryed installing a hydrofoil before? Are they worth the money? And what type should I buy, if any, for my boat type? Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome Aboard to the forums here at iboats.com,.....

I think, generally speaking,... Those things are a limp band-aid attemp to fix the Issue,+ cause far more Wear on the motor/ outdrive assemblies,.. Especially the pivot points......

Trim Tabs are the Hull mounted Cure for your Issue,.....

Smart Tabs are a Personal Favorite,+ they are Very Well Enjoyed around here at iboats,.....
Do a Search,+ read up,..... You'll see that Tabs are the Hands Down Favorite......

Here we go again, I love mine. I might go to tabs some day because all these guys here who are a lot wiser than me go on and on about how superior they are, but my SE Sport foil gets the job done on my boat.

All I can say is it did a great job on my runabout with the rude. May not be for all boats, but they do work on some. I still hate drilling holes in my lower unit though.

For the way I use my boat my foil works just like I need it too.
I river fish and alot of times it is really shallow and I am afraid I would rip them off.
Yes you can flip them up but who wants to mess with that all the time.
Tabs probly work better than a foil, but they are 3X as much.
Pretty much fishmaster you are going to find more people that like tabs but foils do work.
If you run your boat in deeper water probly go with tabs unless $ is a factor then a foil will work fine.
My humble opinion.
