I am getting power to my selinoid but they hydrolics will not work. We get a clicking noice when we push the up or down button. There is voltage to the selinoid but when the up or down switch is pushed the voltage is 0. Any ideas???

Re: hydrolic question

Your description of the symptoms were not quite clear to me so I do not have any idea as to your exact problem, but I would generally suggest that you first check that the battery is good and then check for good connections everywhere in the circuits. A multimeter, a wiring diagram, and systematic troubleshooting is all you need to identify the problem quickly. The below linked troubleshooting guide for a 150hp may help. You didn't describe your motor and so your wiring may be different than shown in the guide, but the tests described will still apply.

Re: hydrolic question

thank you very much. Sorry there wasn't enough information. We have a 1989 90 hp motor that we just boutght off of someone. The battery is new and there is voltage getting to the selinoid and the selinoid is giving out power but when we push the trim button for up or down all voltage is lost and there is only a clicking noise.

I hope the information you have given me will help.

Re: hydrolic question

When voltage drops to zero under load the usual culprit is a poor connection.

Start at the battery, check voltage here, there move on to the next connection. Soon as you find your voltage drop you have found your poor connection.

Remember the poor connection can be either on the positive OR on the ground side.

To prevent future occurrences, remember 'clean bright and tight' then coat with a suitable sealer to keep moisture out of the connection.
