Did everyone forget the hydo-lock thing.... After all the work put into this, could there maybe be some more damage? If he tryed to start and it hydro-locked wouldnt that cause internal damage? just asking.......

4poco, good question. It could have bent a connecting rod, yes. But he won't know until he runs the engine again, and hears "whack whack whack"!

Yep, that might be a problem! Should have elaborated a touch. I have 2 each side that are longer for the pump/alt brackets. I always put new Grade 5 bolts in. Also be a good idea to tap out the holes to clean out the threads.
And on the hydrolock, it has been ran since.....see post.."Once I cleared away the water, with several cranks of the engine, I reinstalled the plugs, and the engine turned over nicely with a large burst preceding the start, so then I let the engine run for a good 15 minutes..."...so the main concern still is if the saltwater has done any bearing/internal damage, and the only way out is to run it and see. Steady oil pressure, no smoke, good compression, etc... :D

While on the subject of bolts. Any pro/con on some anti-seize, or run'em in dry?

robby, I have "heard" run'em dry. Locktite no good, exhaust tend to seize anyway and anti sieze and the wont stay tight. I did cheat a bit and put a bit of the high temp wheel grease on'em 'cause I'm the guy who will have to get'em out when its time to replace the manifilds but I periodically check'em.

Re: Hydrolock=fixed ---> What is next....

Just wanted to let everyone know that both sets of exhaust mani/spacer/riser have been replaced... and at the recommendation of multiple people on this board... I had it done professionally for $1400, which I understand would have costed me $1120 in parts alone, since they used genuine mercruiser OEM parts... However, I did notice they used my old spacers.. which I would assume rarely go bad...

As far as the performance of the engine...
Well, let me first say, that I have gotten all the choc. milk out (salt water+oil), with 3 oil changes... But I digress...
This is my first season owning a boat.. and prior to purchasing a boat, all I heard from previous boat owners were... ya know the whole 2 happiest days in a boat owners life... yada yada... and how boats are HUGE MONEY PITS !!! Well, I must admit, being a saltwater boater... I can certainly see how this could have easily been the case for me this season...

For those who are absolutely not capable of lifting a socket wrench... Well then, this can certainly be a costly hobby... But iboats, has certainly helped me a tremendous amount...
Now getting back to the issue at hand...

I have pretty much put the whole hydrolocking/manifold thing behind me... But there is just 1 last thing about my boat which still URKKS ME !!!

I will be starting another thread now...
