Have a 1988 5.7 OMC. It has aluminum heads and aluminum intake manifold. It has hydrolocked 2 times now. It happens when the engine has reached 180 to 190
degrees, and I have stopped the engine to cool down. As soon as its cooled down go to start it, its hydrolocked.
The first time I had water in the oil and all cylinders. Because it was heating up I removed both exhaust manifolds and
risers, replaced all of them with new gaskets, because of plugged up with rust. Also put in new exhaust flappers, because
it had none. Thought that would do it.
Took it back to the lake second time, same thing got hot shut it down , let it cool down try to start, hydrolocked again.
This time no water in oil just in cylinders. Thought it might be blowen head gasket or warped heads.
Disasembled no blowen head gasket but heads were 4 to 6 thousands warped. Have had them resurfaced, block surface is straight, ready to put back together, but wondering if I have missed another cause of this?
Thanks for any help.
