I have a Fourwinns 1999 18 foot boat that I really like. Yesterday I was changing the oil and filter Yea, Yea, I know I should have done it the fall. I noticed the hose fitting was broken off the bilge pump. It was an absolute bugger to get out. I ordered a brand new Rule pump with more capacity. I can't remember how many times I have turned on the switch and felt good that the pump would be there in an emergency. When I first started boating, I would do an actual test by filling the bilge with water and pumping it out. I think I'm just getting lazy. Lazy and old not a good combo on the water. I repair a lot of boats, and most have the bilge blower hoses either pulled off or rotted away. I wonder how many people just assume that if they hear the pump or blower, all is well. I'm going to start boating as if my life depended on it. Dave-R
