Bought it today.
Got a few months moorage included.
The haulout revealed a 'ton' of barnacles on the leg and props. Had to sea trial it like that... too bad. So I'll bring it home and do a good clean up on it before I start using it.

Awesome Mags. I love the wood below. Have you used that side button (thumb) neutral release control before? My boat has the same one, I didn't like it at first, but I have gotten used to it.

Re: I bit the bullet!

Thanks.
Purduebarry - 5.0 MPI Merc (260hp) / bravo 3. Model 240 is 26' loa I think... it has a big swim platform on it. Color map GPS, VHF, Bolster seat, tilt, mid cabin, hot water, tabs, vacu-flush-macerator-tank, Clarion system, wet bar, 50 hours, warranty until 2009... etc. Sea Ray has lots of neat stuff.
QC - I've used that type of controller before and I liked it. I thought it was smooth and predictable... I love the button :)
I like everything about the boat except I only managed to get 4300 rpm out of it (full fuel / 1/4 water and two people. It should be closer to 5000. It has the factory pitch props so I think after the barnacle crap is cleaned off and they're repolished that'll be a lot better. The bottom paint didn't look so great either so I'll get that fixed up while it's out.
That last picture... I don't like having the word die on my boat. Rename her? It's not registered as Sine Die and I didn't see it written anywhere other than the transom.

She needs a new name. A beautiful boat like that can't have such a silly name. :)

Dry bars are no fun at all. :D

Re: I bit the bullet!

Dictionary has it as a couple interpretations but I'm sure they chose the 'indefinitely' meaning.
I don't mind the meaning but the words stink. Let's find her a sweeter name than something-die.

That is one great looking boat Magster. Plus having one great looking boy,,,,,how bout "SON SHINE" for a name? Sure does beat the existing name. Good Luck and let the fun begin! :D

Replace the e in sine with &. That will go great with your avatar. :)

Beautiful boat and the scenery isn't too bad either. I love the Pacific NW.

Bottom growth can be a major drag. (Pun intended.) Even a coating of slime can cut your performance by 10% or better. True obstructions like barnacles, etc can really cause issues. Get the bottom clean and see what happens. I'll bet she'll be a 34mph rocket with that 5.0L.

Nice ride- I'm envious. Down here in the States that ride would go $40,000 or so. So up there it was like what, $2.6 million? LOL

UFM82

Re: I bit the bullet!

To adjourn sine die means “to adjourn indefinitely, without naming a day for reconvening.”

So, kind of like "permanent vacation."

* We have so many cool destinations nearby... anywhere from a 1/2 hour trip to the Gulf islands or as far as you like (inside passage north).
* The hull needs a bit of attention but the leg and props are not good at all. I'll get on it asap. It does 34 now but it should go 40 and rev 5000 rpm not 4200.
* A Sea Ray like this (51 hrs.) sells for say... mid 40's to mid to high 50's somewhere. I paid 50k... couldn't talk them any lower. Our economy is hot and people are spending so I had to take it then or lose it plus this is a fairly rare boat up here. Prices have been coming down as our buck gains ground on the greenback so it's possible in a year from now they could be less.

Name;
I like the idea of my son being part of it with SS Mayfloat's 'SON SHINE'. Yeah.

My dad used to call me sonny boy and now I do that to my son Joey (Joseph).
'SONNY BUOY'.

What do you think about 'MOJO'?
MOJO is related to magic or personal magnetism in the dictionary and it has my son's name in it.

Other ideas?
