I bought a mint 50th aniversery 18hp. today mint

I ran up on this deal today and I could not pass it up. 18 hp. aniv. model always kept indoors with original owners an all paper work SUPER CLEAN- Recon what its really worth $ wise .

Rumrunner,With all due respect ,We already have that info.How about a specific year and model number.Not everyone has followed the birth of Evinrude and 50th anniversary means little toward appraising value.I'll take a shot and say 1962 model.$200

The Evinrude 50th anniversay engines were 1959 models.<br /><br />The 18 hp Fasttwin was a great engine. I owned several. <br /><br />What's it worth? Maybe $300-$550 in truley great condition.

$300-$500 is about right, assuming ALL general maintenance has been done - new ignition components, new waterpump impeller, lower unit re-sealed, carb rebuilt, hoses replaced, etc. Also, I would want to make sure I get a tank with it, too, as 1959 was the last year of the dual-line pressure tank.<br />- Scott

I have a 50th aniversery 40hp johnson. its a 1972.correct me if im wrong guys but isnt johnson and evinrude the same company, and his motor is a 1972 also.?

totalivewire,I'm sure these guys are correct on the 59' model.My guess was off a couple of years.Evinrudes been making outboards since the early 1900's.Now if Rumrunner can post model number we can verify.

Ole Evinrude was born in Norway on 19th April, 1877. In 1909 he developed a one-cylinder power plant. The following year he established Evinrude Motors in Milwaukee. He died in Milwaukee on 12th July, 1934. His son, Ralph Evinrude took over running of Evinrude Motors. Now here´s something I have been wondering since I first saw this awesome adds : How can 2 people ski behind a 18HP ??? I find it very difficult to ski behind my 35HP , though i´m at 185 lbs <br />Did anybody try this. Were these old horses stronger ?

I do believe older horses where stronger. But 2 people skiing on 18hp?? where did you get this?must have been some midgets on a stripped out boat.

I tip the scales at 220 lbs. But I bet it will push my 14ft. flatbottom ok. The only skiers I pay attention to are the ones wearing thongs (females only) HEHE

Used to run Evinrude Fastwin's on 14' aluminum and fiberglass runabouts. No problem pulling a 140 lb. teenage skier at a decent speed. Two would work, but pretty slow getting them up.<br /><br />I believe that the electric starters from the old 25, 30, 35, and early 40hp engines will fit the old Fastwins.

Does your 18hp have a toothed flywheel? If so, then the electric start kit from any of the 18/20/25hp 22-cubic inch Johnrudes will bolt up. Otherwise, you'll need to find the flywheel, too. Ideally, you'll find the wiring harnasses (inside and outside), too. The OMC Part Number for the Starting Kit is: 171847. Not likely to be still available, but you never know. The kits turn up on eBay from time to time. The ones from the Big-Twin series (big bore 25, 28, 30, 33, 35, 40) won't work...<br />- Scott
