i cant win with this 78 55hp

so i get the lower end all tidy motor runs greats till yesterday now i lost spark also i noticed who ever owned it before me dissconected the 3 wires that come from the fly wheel to the distribution block to the rectifyer so my charging system wasnt working.... could there be a reason why they would not have it hooked up and what could of went bad in the ignition system

I'm newbie I would guess could be i lot of thing like Coil, powerpack, points, battery and wiring
I just bought a boat with a 68 65hp rude it had no spark I use sandpaper 180git on the points or breaker assy now it run great

I bought a SELOC REPAIR MANUAL FOR $32.00 but it for 1958-1972 3 and v4 50-125hp so I can't tell you what the manual said to do I would tell you to get one for your motor help out a lot

no points on this motor its a power pack ignition and i have the rude shop service manual for it all ready

ran through all the test looks like the power pack went bad just like that new one on the way thank god for ebay got a brand new one for half of what the shop wants for one
