I have a 1973 Mercury Mercruiser with a 140hp engine and a 2:1 ratio. The boat weighs about 2400 pounds. It had the original prop on it until I wrecked it last weekend. I have the owners manual and the prop is listed in there. It's a 15 1/2 inch prop with 19 pitch. Heck, I can even tell you the original mercruiser part number. It's B-48-58-422A4. The number is listed in the manual and it's printed on the prop. Problem is nobody makes a 15 1/2 by 19 prop anymore. What do I do now? The nearest marina is 70 miles away and I can't afford for them to test the boat out and find a suitable replacement. Nor can I just start buying pops at random and hope I find one that works. Can anyone here tell me anything newer prop would perform the same as this prop did? If you can I would appreciate it. Or, am I totaled screwed. :(

( I'm so depressed and mad at myself for doing this:mad:)

Have a nice day. Caveman Charlie

Who says they don't make it anymore. You should be able to get that at any Merc. dealer. Check around again contact Michigan Wheel they make aftermarket everthing. Jerry

Thanks for the rapid responses. I'll check out Michigan wheel. Um.. I should have added to my original post that I'm looking for something kinda affordable. The stainless prop tawd77 found is the right size, and pitch, but, a 294 dollar stainless prop is not in my future. Heck the whole boat is only worth about a grand. I do appreciate the link! But, it's too rich for my blood.

Okay, no one's mentioned the fact that you don't have to replace the prop with one of exactly the same diameter. You will find out, as I did by reading these forums, that the diameter of the prop is mostly the byproduct of the prop design(how much rake it has, etc).

So here is you a page of compatible props right here on iboats...

Hope that helps...

Thanks for the help. I bought that used one. And, I'll look into a new one as well. It never hurts to have a spare.
