Re: I didn't want to find this

Wow...sorry for your bad luck. All from a clamp being set in the wrong position.

Re: I didn't want to find this

well,I was the one who put it there ...what now ...does it need to be replaced or can I move the clamp and JB weld the pieces ...or is it even necessary to do anything ..I believe this is not a watertight passage anyway so can I just leave it alone ....will it hurt anything?

In case I offended you I didn't mean to imply anything bobhol. I'm still learning and just as easily could have done the same thing.

Re: I didn't want to find this

Actually ...I didnt put it there ..I still have the exhaust bellows brand new in a bag that came with my transom kit....I didnt replace the exhaust bellows cuz the previous owner had just replaced it after his overheat ...when I did the bellows I just loosened it at the transom side and reinstalled it from there..I knew placement of the clamps was critical and I did it exactly as the manual said but didnt think to check that clamp position as I didnt put it on ....but...I still have the problem....any one have an opinion on this ...thanks guys

Re: I didn't want to find this

I am thinking that because the exhaust and water are mixed at this point that the hole is no big deal.I may try to put the pieces back in with JB weld and then some JB WELD PUTTY which I have used successfully on my aluminum fishing boat.If it leaks it should not matter.....any other thoughts out there?...thanks

Re: I didn't want to find this

everything is back together and ready for winterizing...I used JB WELD epoxy stick to seal the hole ..I will monitor the patch ...I changed the impeller ,shift shaft bushing and carrier seal and pressure checked at 16 lbs for an hour while moving the drive shafts ...no pressure drop so I hope I am good ,,,fill the drive with fluid ,run the motor on muffs ,replace the oil and drain the water and we should be set...thanks to all who helped ....I would have assumed exhaust shutters and went ahead with that uneeded effort...lol...regards,Bob
