Anbesol Gel (kids toothache paste) aka lidocane, smear it on there, when they touch it,... hands will go numb. Sugar in the gas will cause a lot of problems.<br /><br />I would probably tape a double sided razor blade (the old shaver type) on the inside of the fuel door or on top of the cap.... so when they grab it (at night), well.... you get the idea.

Another one....WOW I'M ONE SICK FREAK!!!! <br /><br />Get a new BRAND NEW tank, drill a hole, weld an air valve into the hole (hidden). Then remove the tank filler neck cap, weld a tube inside the filler neck hole, from the hole down into the tank.... if the opening in the tank is 1.5" ID when you remove the cap, get a 1/5" OD pipe that is long enough to almost reach the bottom of the tank, and weld it into the opening going around fully. Paint the welds. Fill the tank 1/2-3/4 with fuel (tipping it on it's side or holding open the air valve while filling), then pressurize it with air. When they remove the cap, the air pressure wants to escape but can't because no vent in the top of the tank exists, instead it pushes the fuel from the bottom of the tank up the pipe, and all over your buddies, until the pressure in the tank and the atmosphere are equal... maybe 1/2 full of fuel would be better so more air can fit.<br /><br />Even worse would be to weld a small nipple or something in the top of the pipe you inserted, that way fuel wouldn't flow out, it would spray out.

How about some real old stale gas. You know the stuff that we have trouble finding out how to dispose of. It not only stinks real bad, but it won't let an engine run right either. It will gum up everything that it comes in contact with. Report the "stolen" gas incident to the police and newspapers etc. Put the pressure on the local law to do something about it.<br /><br />After this last price increase gas thefts went way up so they started passing some more laws about stealing gas.<br /><br />I agree with wimper - if you elevate they elevate<br /><br />locking the tank down will only make them destroy your boat <br /><br />maybe even put signs on your boat to say this dock allows thieves<br /><br />They have deer cameras that have built in motion detectors mount one in a bird box nearby and take pictures<br /><br />email the pictures to the police, local websites etc<br /><br />i bet the local newspaper would love to show those prints.<br /><br />even craigslist for free you could post the pictures.<br /><br />All those ideas about the fuel additives only means you have to have 4 gas tanks instead of 2<br /><br />tomatolord

They passed gas thieving laws here just recently.<br />I think it's now a felony of you steal gas.<br /><br />I dunno about you, but what would get you more if you were stealing gas... a sign that says 'Smile you're on camera', or a thief cocktail?<br /><br />If I were a thief and got the receiving end of a Jr.. science experiment, I'd be out for payback.<br /><br />On the other hand... if I seen a sign that says you're on camera after I broke in... I think I'd be making tracks. <br /><br />And sadly... yes, they can sue you if you do harm them in the process.<br /><br /><br />H.

Can you post a pic of the fuel tank compartment or a link to one? If not, what make model is your toon? What size is the fuel tank? If we can get a visual of it, we might be able to come with less deadly soloution. After all these might be kids stealing you gas.<br /><br />How far is your house from the boat?<br />Is there power running to your dock?<br /><br />spots

Could you build a wooden locking box over the tank......with vents?? Attatch the box to the floor with brackets from the inside, then put a top on with a internal hinge and a clasp with lock.

If your using portable gas tanks I would buy 2 more just for them. fill them with normal fuel mix then add 2cans of clover coarse valve grinding compound per tank shake well to dissolve. If they dont have verry good fuel filters its by-by motor and they wont be rebuilding that one. compound available at auto parts store,very abrasive one tank of that should wear thier motors out completly. lwr

An easier way is to get a 3rd can, and fill it with engine degreaser. If that gets in their engine, it doesn't matter if its oil injected, it will thin out the oil. Bye Bye engine internals <br /><br />Nav

As much as I like the revenge side, remember thieves dont work and pay for stuff and have no repect for your property. <br />A: Micro switch with the horn<br />B: A small wireless camera that transmits 300-500 feet and then you have it on tape. $50 dollars or so.

Has this country really gotten as bad as some people say it has ("don't hurt them you will be sued")? Is there a judge or a jury that would actually listen to this argument" ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my client was just tresspasing, and commiting a crime of theft, when BAM....his hand was cut by razor blades on the gas tank he was about to steal....therefore we ask for restitution in the amount of 100 thousand dollars" ? Isn't it time we put an end to crap like this? Gee, I'll volunteer for jury duty if I get to through out a case like this.

As stupid as it sounds, yes, it can and does happen, and yes, people even win these kind of cases. This country is 90% full of people who are too stupid to even realize that they're dumb...

toomanyboats,<br /><br />If you fill your toon tanks with portable cans, then why not just bolt your boat tanks down with theft proof bolts? Of course while you are at it, make sure everything like your motor and battery is secured down also. Most thieves want it to be quick and easy so as not to get caught. If they see that you have made things secure, then they know you are aware of them visiting your toon. Good Luck..and hope they never come back. I would also let other people in your area know about what is going on as well.
