Was out in the Charleston harbor yesterday enjoying the Sunday with some friends. I usually do not wear a ball cap on the boat, as I have seen many passengers hats depart at a rather high velocity, but I had put mine on for a brief while to block the sun as we headed in. At about 35 MPH it departed and I executed an immediate 180 and despite 3 passes, none of my friends seemed to be able to snag it. So, as it floated gracefully out from under the stern of the boat "I'll get it" I leaned out over the stern, one hand on the hat, other on the boat. Wet hand + gelcoat, not enough friction...slide...splash. A nice unplanned dip in the Charleston Harbor. Glad I had the foresight to kill the engine! I did get the hat by the way.
