I am hard of hearing, 30dB loss +/- in both ears. My wife hears everything. Many times I go running into the yard in my undies with my .45 and laser sight sweeping the yard.

this morning my garage door opened completely by itself at 0600, there I was in the garage with a sig and my tighty whities... Probably freaking out the neighbors.

That is not my gun. Mine is an Ultra CDP II with the Kimber Crimson Trace Grips. Same size and shape of that gun but all stainless, with several personal mods to make it fit my hip, but not necessarily my pocketbook! I have a bit over $1500 invested in it so far....

This is just the only picture that shows a similar gun with the laser activated, even though it is photoshopped.

I guess I need to apologize for my comparison of the feeling of having been violated and helplessness to that of a rape victim. It has been suggested that it was inflammatory. I was not referring to the feeling of being raped, only to the feeling of the victim afterwards.

I have been robbed and as a boy I was raped. That is exactly the feeling I had. . .and rage beyond the power of words to express. If area lowlifes think I am dangerous they are experiencing a rare bit of wisdom.

JB, I read your post earlier yesterday. It wasn't until last night that the full impact of someone invading your space hit me. The affect was I got really cranky. I would yell at the kids for touching something I was epoxying up (huge broken pot), I went outside and checked both boats, and anything else that could be removed by towing or loaded into a pickup. I was angry and very, very, short tempered. My wife noticed my extreme behavior change, and pointed it out to me (ok, she stuck it in my face and insisted I tell her what the %$#% is going on). So yes, your post was appropriate in my eyes.

Anyway, I looked at myself, and although that did not change the anxiety, stress and anger associated with someone being in my yard uninvited, even worse, in my favorite private space (pattio and deck), it helped me realize I should not be using any other event as a reason to dump my baggage.

I did not sleep well last night. And today I will stop after work and buy more locks and latches for the shed. More chain for the grill, etc.

Also have been looking at the electrical circuits to figure out the best way to get power to motion detection floods.


Oh yeah, anyone know where I can get C4 and trip wire kits?

I was thinking more along the lines of an 80,000 volt electric wire about 24" above the ground as a perimeter and a video system so you can put the activities on youtube

I recommend one of those new awesome night vision DVR home security systems. They might be 500 for a good set, but you get awesome capability with it! Digital recording, motion activation, and full night vision capability out to 25 feet or more. You can even access and watch your DVR from anywhere in the world via the internet when you're not home!

For those who do not know, the motion detector on the security lighting is just a switch. So you don't have to have only the two bulbs directly under the detector. You can wire up other lights remotely from the detector.

We have Alarm, Cameras & I always have a gun in easy reach. I almost had to take out a Repo-Thief that tried to climb my 9' privacy fence. Needless to say he had bad info & didn't even apologize for attempting to break in my property & had the nerve to say he has seen plenty of those pointing at my gun at my side. I told him he didn't really understand how close he came to being shot & he wouldn't have ever seen my gun if I really thought he was a threat since I don't try to scare.

I can't stand thieves of any type for any reason they dream up.

Sorry this happen to you but this also could have been a first attempt to see how easy it would be so you should prepare for a second intrusion.

That is the reason My ex got a dog. I was spending the night at her appartment,her son was in his room,and there was a huge bang. Ran into her sons room to find the window kicked in, not broken actually pushed the frame off the track. And the sound of running from outside. We called the cops and they had cought the guy. Some druggie had been trying door knobs of all the apartments. They picked him up 10 min after he broke in two doors down still trying doors. He also broke into the laundry room which did not lead to any apartments. Anyway freaked her out I had to move in with her and we got a dog that week. Her kid took a while to be able to sleep he was 6. We broke up maybe a yr later and she did not want to take care of the dog.I had that dog trained well no one came within 50 yds of my house without me knowing. Once was a neighbor kid trying to peep good thing I had the dogs collar when I opened the door the kid was just out of my arms lenght and "jakes" jaw. missed him by a few inches. But the look on that kid was priceless. And his parents said he was freaked for days. Kid never did much bad after that.

I installed motion lights, camera, and a cheap DVR after 2 incidents within 3 months of eash other...

1. I'm a night owl, and I was in the detatched garage arount 3:00 am, working on my truck, when the door flung open, without even thinking, I whipped the 22mm wrench I had in my hand at the door, and actually split the guy's head open. He ran, I called the police, and they tracked him like a wounded deer(in the snow) to a neighbor's house. Turns out the elderly neighbor has a tweeker grandson who was looking for pawnable items.

2. I go to start my truck one morning, and it sounded like it was running off of straight headers...it was, I'm guessing some lowlife used a portable sawzall to remove both catalytic converters from my truck for scrap.
