Sweet! Looks like most of the deconstruction was already done saving a lot of time and labor. Peruse through some of the tin resto's in the Starcraft section and it will give you some good ideas to work with. Good luck.

What do you have in mind?

I personally would bastardize and mangle it by cutting out that useless covered bow so you could put a usable front deck, pedestal seat, and trolling motor up there.

Nice score. Did you get controls with her? I think at this stage that boat could be built anyway you like. I'm with jigngrub a casting deck on the front would be nice.

No controls with the the Merc. I did not expect to come home with the outboard. I found the boat and trailer on Craigslist and when i got there the owner told me I could have the motor because he didn't feel like having to take it off the boat. Needless to say I didn't argue with him . I leaning towards jigngrubs suggestion . I found a thread from jasoutside http://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat...9-1968-15-starcraft-jet-star-rebuild?t=455193, on a rebuild thats has gotten my attention.

Take my motor. Please! LOL

Got an idea what model you got there, Tarheel?

Jason's JetStar is a good reference if you put on the scrubs and perform a bowectomy.

Welcome to the Tin Drydock!

It looks very much like the boat is a 1968 Starcraft Sprint V15. It would have had an avocado green hull and a jade green deck & transom well. Rated for 65 horsepower. It would have had sleeper seats and a fixed center console, plus the windshield would have had an extruded aluminum frame around it.

Hi everyone I also just purches a 1971 Falcon with same Mercury 500. This past weekend was able to get the motor to start. So if your looking for info on that motor I might be able to help. I did it for about $40 before I start spending hundreds on a motor that does not work. I will post a couple videos.

Rehab you should start your own thread.

The Merc 500's are nice.

Progress is progress. Paint stripping is no fun at all. Hey I just noticed she's sitting on a tilt trailer. That is a great feature if the trailer is salvageable. Makes shallow water launches much easier.

Oh yeah paint stripping is so much fun

Not sure what stripper brand your using but cover the stuff with plastic once applied to hold the fumes in, makes it work way better.

I bought a roll of painters plastic yesterday, i'm trying to get as much out of this aircraft stripper as possible . I'm also hitting the old paint with some 40 grit sandpaper lightly just to scratch it up some so the stripper can get down to the metal .

I hit the topside with my orbital sander in one section yesterday . I used some 180 grit to get the residue and left over paint off .

This trailer does need some TLC but it is salvageable , some minor welding , paint and new tires , it should last a few more years .

Yup. Nastiest part of the whole job.

Take that hull and splash test it for leaks.

What are the dimensions of that boat?
