Spent all day trying to remove the old bottom paint from my boat. Most of it has already chipped off...but there is still some there that needs to be removed before I paint my boat. I got down underneath with a sander and some heavy grit sandpaper, and also used a putty knife to chip some way. I was able to chip more away than I could sand away. I headed to west marine to find something that may assist, and found the peel away pro. I just brushed some on to test it out. I'm gonna let it dry for a few hours and then see how it works. I hope it works well...I dont want to spend a week taking bottom paint off.
I would think this peel away stuff would work given the condition of my bottom paint. Like I said earlier, most of it has already peeled/chipped/worn away. But there is still some especially towards the front of the boat. Boat isn't huge either (15.7 ft), so hopefully this peel away pro stuff from west marine works.
Anyone suggest some better "bottom paint" removal tactics or solutions?
