I thought NASCAR used to race cars to show speed and driver skills, not how much fuel you can save.

Next they will be developing engines that will just maintain minimum speed, but use the least amount of pit stops. WOW, doesn't that sound exciting.

I wasn't into watching this race, JR not driving and it's getting boring anyway. I started watching NASCAR in the 60's on wild world of sports and it has changed a lot. Lot's of college football viewing today.

EDIT- It was the early 70's...OOPS

Yeah, if either the drivers would have over driven the tires, or Goodyear would have provided a softer tire, more cars would have gone into the wall, causing more cautions, promoting the pit crews to fill the fuel cells, and voila -- no more fuel mileage race.

Next you guys will be calling for a mandatory pit stop with 30 to go.

And what will happen, someone would try a stop and go, no tires or fuel, to gain track position, and they would end up running out of fuel anyway.

Just be glad the tires were good, the surface was good, and the car setups were good.

Does anyone out there remember when the winner of the race had lapped the entire field by several laps? Now that was boring.

That actually has been talked about. Not here. Depending on how a race goes, they all ready do it. It's called a debris caution. Seen many a race where they would run a bunch of green laps w/o a caution. Then out comes the yellow for debris even though no one was touching anyone else to make a part fall off. Didn't they through a caution last nite for a beverage can? How many 1.5 miles tracks are left in the Chase?

All in all the race wasn't bad. Would like to see the winner being decided while going full out on the track, however.

Not watching a race because Jr isn't out there, really? I may as well not watch any of it because Burton isn't in the Chase..... I just don't get it......

I thought it was a great race!

And I agree with Roscoe, maybe they should do more competition cautions so everybody can keep up.

Denny and Jimmie both short pitted so they could make it to the end with just enough gas, why didn't the rest of the field? Cause they didn't want to lose track position and were hoping for some caution laps to help them out but their gamble didn't pay off.

What would have happened if there was a green white checker? Bowyer wouldn't have made it so there went his win, Denny and Jimmie may have as long as there was enough caution laps. but odds are not good (did like Chad's radio conversation telling jimmie it was all good- boy did that sound like lying for a cause) Brad would probably have won if there was or BIf.

Racing has always been about strategy, running the race backwards, you have to finish to win. That's what makes a 500 mile race so good. NO fuel mileage concern run a 125 with a competition caution... boring!

You know if your favorite guy didn't win maybe his team mate should have hit the wall and helped out.

No, don't wreck a good car.
Just stop on the track and then get it restarted when the caution flag waves.

Ooops, thats already been done.

There were/was lots of good college football games already on the tube. Doesn't sound like I missed much not watching the race. :D

Thats why I quit watching nascar long ago. Its the most boring form of autoracing out there. Lawnmower racing is more exciting. Go watch some BTCC, Aussie V8 Supercars, or WRC.

Ever since Speed went belly up and turned into Nascar Tv its hard to find these races. Narrow mindedness of americans never ceases to amaze me

Great. Just because I don't watch the same motorsports as you, I'm narrow minded. Yes, I like NASCAR(and other motorsports) and it does have it's faults like anything/anyone else. Such is life. Nothing will be perfect.

Yep, NASCA ain't what it started out to be!...I remember when Daytona was on the beach, up over the dune, around and back down the beach!...Much before that it was runnin' moonshine up around North Wilkesboro.....in a '40 Ford Coupe with a flathead motor!;)

^^^^^ Funny you mention that. I was going to say, how many people complained about leaving that beach at Daytona???????? It's impossible to make everyone happy no matter how hard NASCAR tries......
