I have a 6502M-EO7755 - that should equate to a 1965 6 hp.....I need some assistance

I'm looking for a prop, the one I own has a two bladed prop, I want a 3 bladed prop. I'm going to use this motor on the back of a Cocktail Class Race Boat, I'm a big fellow and I going to need all the help I can get to be competative. I figure a 3 bladed prop with the most pitch will move the most water which should equal the most speed.

Every place I look to find a prop they list 1966 to like 1978 or 79. There is no listing for a 1965.................HELP !!

Is there any way I can hook up a tach to the motor to see if I am running the rated rpm's? If not are there any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

You're going to want to know the WOT rpms w/known pitch prop to dial it in. These props should fit your motor: http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/Evinrude/6_HP_(1966-1979)_Propellers/14/?*******=885728234

There's a device called a 'tiny tac' that you can use to get your rpm's.. or use a fancy timing light.

Is the WOT on that motor 5200 rpm's?

If so that is the designed rpm to run (with my big ***** in the boat, the fuel tank and the weight of the boat) with a prop, correct?

I can put a timing light on the motor while in a big trash can to make sure it goes to full advance and the timing marks line up, but that won't help me with my prop choice.

Now I need to find a "tiny tac"........

dont run it at wot in a barrel or you may be looking for a new motor. best bet is to use the tiny tach with the motor on the boat.
