xengrns, I don't understand the "no suction as carbs" statement. You should have a fuel pump that supplies fuel to the carbs. The carbs don't pull gas to them, the fuel pump pushes gas to the carbs. So if you are not getting fuel to the carbs, time to check your fuel pump and the entire fuel delivery lines and system from the tank on. . JMHO

You should get the fuel pump rebuild kit off ebay and rebuild it. It's easy!

The reed valves in that motor are very robust. They would cause a rough idle. I would put them on the bottom of the list for issue.
Check compression and spark​. Clean carbs next.
