I'm in the paint stage of the renovation of my 84 imperial. I was wondering if there is a gloss clear coat to apply over the finished brightside paint to protect it fom the sun etc.? The brightside is made from interlux. Thanks
I do not know of a clear coat for this, if there is a good one i would like to know as well.
I know a lot of people on the forum here are used the brightside paint, but i cannot recall anyone spraying a clear over top of it. You probably don't really have to worry about it at all.
Brightside has UV protection in it already. It will retain its shine for about two years. At that point you can scuff it and recoat. Of course you can extend the shine by keeping the boat in a garage or keeping it covered. I have almost four years on some brightside paint on my big boat and it still looks good. There are "better" systems out there, but Brightside is a great alternative to paying for a professional paint job.

Ayuh,... I've never used that particular paint,...
But,...
A Quality paint shouldn't need clear coating to protect it...
That's what the paint is for...
I used Interlux two part Perfection on the boat and brightside on the trailer. It has plenty of shine without clear. Photo is a week old, paint is ten years old.
Instead of going through the hassle and cost of doing it twice (color coat/clear coat) just do it once with a better product, Brightsides isn't even near the top of the list for durability.
not to hijack, but what are on the top of the durability list, awl grip and sterling as stated above...perhaps some others?.... i know its open to debate, but if you had a good experience it would be good to know.
