I have a 1996 offshore the rubber rail on
boat keeps falling off I suspect they didnt
use the heat gun so it would expand. does
anyone hve any suggestions thanks
Re: I have a problem with rubber rail on boat falls off
It all depends on the fitting (if any), the type of trim, and the mounting surface,as to what to use to re-attach it. Is it cemented directly to the jellcoat in other words?
Re: I have a problem with rubber rail on boat falls off
O k
her is some more information this is a two peace rail where the boat rail is one part
is attached with screws then the second part
has two slits then you fit it in by sliding
it in but when I go out on water and boat hits the dock it starts falling of
Re: I have a problem with rubber rail on boat falls off
I understand. Seems like the molding part may be worn.

I don't think there is really much you can do.

You can take the strip off, line it up with the screws and back one out at a time and screw through the bumper part back into your hole thats holding the rail.

Other suggestion would be to get a new molding piece. Seems like yours is worn pretty bad.

Good luck
Re: I have a problem with rubber rail on boat falls off
I think i follow you. It's the bow railing, sliding-out of it's deck mounted flange?
If so, just drill a 1/8" hole in one side, and op rivet the two together, or use stainless sheet metal screws to secure it.
Re: I have a problem with rubber rail on boat falls off
Over time the molding will shrink & dry out. Before you start drilling & putting screws in it. Go to your local boat supply house & order some new... probably can do this on-line if I recall correctly. Call you boat mfg & they probably have in-stock. As the OLD stuff will keep coming out... know by experience!!!

hamilton marine catalog has a large selection of rub rails , you just match what you have up with pictures. You try using a larger size screw to hold it on?
