Hurray, hot showers for all! Been 7 days since Isabelle took it away. Feel bad for those in actual remote areas still waiting. No I am not at home, no cable, or internet there yet.

Hey, Jolly,<br />If you happen to see any American Electric Power crews around, tell 'em Brian from the Columbus DDC sends his best & hopes they stay safe & get to return home soon! A good friend of mine is an AEP lineman sent first to Roanoke 8 days ago, then on through VA down to Dominion Power territory.<br />Glad you got your electricity back!<br />Brian

I could not even try to imagine life with no power for that long. One day and I'd be freaking out. What?! No hot water?? No internet? No iboats? <br />How do you deal? Just curious. <br /> I'm very glad your power is back.

After a 6 day outage over christmas due to an ice storm I bought a generator. It takes the edge off the outages. I still have no cable/internet. Virginia is a state covered in forests, and the trees come down on many occasions taking the power lines with them. My neighborhood has underground utilities but whatever feeds us is not.

Just spoke with my lineman friend... He's in Virginia around some college town (couldn't quite make out his cell phone & wasn't about to have him repeat). His crew has been working every day, 16 hrs on, 8 off since Sept. 19th. They're telling him he won't be released until Friday, Oct 3rd, and he said everywhere he looks there's poles, wires & trees down! You guys must have really irritated the gods!!

Hey Brian, you can thank your lineman bud for all of us here in Va. One of my coworkers just got power back today. That's almost 2 weeks without electricity. He won our power pool. After the first couple days about 10 of us put a couple dollars each in a pool and the last to get power was the winner, or loser depending on how you look at it. Ha! I was quite happy to be a fairly early loser.

Will do, Jolly! He'll be glad to get it. He's coming home tomorrow.<br />Was just last July 4 we had a storm and had to contract out to Dominion Va Power for help in our restoration. We were happy to return the favor!

Jolly,<br />Well, my friend got home today & just called. He's exhausted and is taking tomorrow & Monday off for a little R&R. He appreciated your comments and said there were signs all over yards down there saying "Thanks, AEP!" He was glad to help. On a sad note, heard there were 3 deaths due to electrical contacts, and a Dominion VA lineman was critically burned today in a contact accident when a tree tore down some 19.9kV primary. He thought it was deenergized and it wasn't. Our prayers go out to him & his tonight!<br />Brian

Glad to hear he made it back. Seems the folks that respond to the emergency always get hurt some too. Cleanup after the storm is dangerous work especially stacked on top of high voltage line work.
