I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Non-medical appointments kept us busy all day yesterday and half of today but this afternoon we got the KF out of the garage and washed clean.


Four months of grime needed to come off.



The weather was perfect for boat washing today.



Much better!



Then we cleaned up the workbench and small work table. We also reorganized and stored the aluminum letters and other items. It's nice having all the KF stuff in one place. :joyous:

I'd wax the hull, 30 days after the paint it's a good idea to get some wax on. I use 303 Quick wax

I bought the 303 Spray Wax today and it worked well.

Yeap that was the stuff or similar, I think mine said quick wax but they may have changed the label is all. Sure does a good job, looks great on your paint that's for sure :thumb:

This morning the boy and I went out and sat and cogitated on what to do next. My initial thought was to have my buddy come get the boat so that he can get the trailer welding done. But with his busy schedule, I may not get the KF back until springtime!

So while we were discussing options, the boy and I decided to plop the deck back into place "just because" we could. The deck looks pretty good even if it isn't fastened down. Of course, seeing the deck in there got me to thinking about putting vinyl down over top. And maybe using vinyl on the topsides instead of paint. More time. More expense. Sigh. I dunno.

Yeah I'm liking the gray but may be a bit biased.

I'd suggest a lighter shade of grey for both the topsides and the deck....

Yea definitely go with a lighter color on top. Too dark and it'll get hot in the sun.

I went with a lighter grey on top. I didn't want anything too dark that would get too hot in the sun, or too bright that would add to glare.

The white looks good but I think H20 man and the others may be right about the glare and that grey may be a better choice because of it. In the end though it's your boat and just like Burger King , you can have it your way . :smile-new:

Another doc appointment this morning (routine) and no safety monitor this afternoon so I couldn't do much.

But I got bored enough to get out there in this nice cool weather and futz around a little.

I placed the seats and bases inside the KF (from outside the boat) to get a better idea of the layout. And I duck taped the console frame to the side. Looks like there will be plenty of maneuvering room even for me to get around.

The boy has a 1/2 day of school tomorrow and I'm hoping to get everything back out of the hull so that we can start sanding in preparation for painting the inside of the hull again. Going to be cold for several days but we can at least get started while waiting for the weather to warm up again.

I know, I know... I should have washed the seats for the pix but I wasn't that ambitious. Next time...

Aaaaannndd... I forgot that I have out of town doc appointments today and tomorrow. Am sitting in the waiting room now. So much for getting stuff done. :facepalm:

I'm pretty weak from tapering down the Prednisone but this afternoon I went out and removed the chairs and whatnot from the KF. I'll need the boy's help to get the deck out. But once that's done we'll put some temporary wood in there so that we can start sanding the inside of the hull.





I'm definitely going with white paint for the topsides. Here are a couple of photo-edited pix to demonstrate the differences. The gray just doesn't look "right" and the painted surface area will be small anyway. And the white gives a nice "clean" look.

We clearly have different tastes.
For me, that white is way too white, and I'd get rid of the black.
I want something that is easy on the eyes, maybe a cream for the hull and something earth tone for the trim.
But that's just me.
