hi all
after 9 years and a motor and drive upgrade, we have moved up from our trusty Bayliner
Ciera 2255 (1993)
and now have a 10 year old Mustang 3200, and australian built boat( if interested have a look
on youtube, search for mustang 3200)
with twin 4.3 efi mercruisers and bravo two,s it has been rack stored most of its life and only in the last couple of years been anti fouled and moored full time in the water, only 300 hours on the motors
these are tough built boats, the deck to hull joint is glassed all the way around, all thru hulls are stainless steel, comes with 3 150 amp hour batteries and shore power and chargers, tv, microwave hotplate and fridge. hot and cold water
2x250 litre fuel tanks and 280 litres of water
very much a turn key boat
as its 10 years old and raw water cooled i factored in at least one motor repair or replacement in the short term, but after 6 months with us all is good
however what is it with new boats that i have to go re find every sand bar allover again
yep 32foot is a lot harder to get off than 22foot
oh one question, i had a sensor (hall effect) in the distributor fail on one motor, and unfortunately for me the one that runs the power steering, so 3 hours at 6/8 knots with out power steering was hard work.
so what do others do if this happens, do you leave the dead drive down for extra steerage, as i did, or do you power it up so as to create less drag, i was so concerned with getting home i wasn't prepared to experiment
what do you think, oh i,m also one that would have argued against the concept of redundancy with two motors but its a different story now, at least i could get home with one motor as opposed to needing a tow
