Originally posted by Unicorn:
You can check that choke solonoid easy by running a jump lead from the battery to the live side of the soloniod. It will "Click" if it's working. You NEED it to work when cold, because these Mercs like to be choked hard when cold. It may be just the way you've untangled those wires that's causing it to fail.
BTW How is the telltale stream looking ?
Stream is pumping great. I didn't do anything to the wires, yet. I found that they were taped together, pos and neg. But there are a couple that are just laying around.
I also have been busy with the trailer, as I sanded it and painted it today after running the motor. I still have the tilt/trim and tach to deal with besides the choke. Seems like nothing is wired.

Billy

No. Take the hat off and it's above the top choke on the inner cowl.

-W

just because the tell-tale has a steady stream
doesn't mean it's working 100%... it's the very
first thing I would change on a new to me motor.
good luck,
M.Y.

Have you established the fact that you have a spark for sure? It sounds like you have compression and gas. Take the plug out -stick it into the wire boot ground it to the engine block and crank the engine.

Yes I have already checked for spark. I checked the choke solenoid and its working, just have to rewire the choke button on the shifter.
