Hello all,
I joined this site about a month ago, and i was very impressed with the wealth of info on here.

I'm happy to say, that I bought my first boat today! It's nothing fancy. Yet I'm so excited!!

It's a 14', aluminum V-hull Sea Nymph, with a 25 HP Merc.
This boat came with a brand new trolling motor, still in the box! Along with 2 anchors, pfd's, locator, cover, roller trailer, and assorted fishing equipment. Rods, reels, fish basket, rod holders, etc.

Just wanted to let you all know!
I'm sure I will be posting in the other categories soon!

Happy and safe boating to all!

Oh, you're totally screwed now. There is no going back. You might as well just dump your wallet into the nearest river.

Welcome aboard Bass Buster! Just to let you know,,,,There is no cure for the Two Footitis that boaters get after their first boat.

Looks as if you got yourself a nice rig set up...Keep the bottom side wet and the top side dry,,,,,,,,,,best wishes in your boating adventure!

Welcome to the zoo, BasB. Those SeaNymphs are very quick because they are very light, They're sort of noisey to fish out of, but in some areas, that seams not too bother the fish too bad.
Enjoy her.

Yeah, I've heard this before! :D Hopefully I won't need to put too much money into it! It seems as if the previous owner took good care of it.

I wanted to share with you all, about the guy I bought the boat from. He is a retired man, and he told me that his fishing buddy of many years passed away recently, so that is basically why he was selling the boat, along with his fishing poles, etc which came with the boat. I guess he's giving up fishing too.
I felt a little bad as I pulled away with his boat, he and his wife watching. He seemed kind of sad to see the boat go. I guess his wife doesn't like fishing.

Oh, and I'll try not to forget the plug! :)
I'll post some pics soon of my newest obsession.

Thanks all!

You should ask the old guy to go out fishing with you one day; probably hear some great stories, and I'll bet he knows where the big ones are hiding!!!

Good idea, why didn't I think of that? He lives not too far from me, and I'd probably make his day. I'm sure he could show me a thing or two about boating and fishing.

First I need to register the boat in my name, haven't had time yet. Then I think I want to take the boat out first, just to make sure all is well, before inviting the old guy out.

He ran the motor for me in a tub, and it seemed to run fine. I'm hoping it is!
He said he changed the lower unit oil last month. I asked him about the impeller, and he wasn't sure when it was last replaced. This worries me a bit.
Should i replace it before hitting the water? Or can I check it by running the motor in a tub for a bit, to see if it overheats?
