I just got this new reel but...

It was a gift from my dad that he won at some auction and since he dosent fish he gave it to me. Except im not familar with this type of reel. Can somone explain what everything is and how it works? Also what kind of fishing is it ideal for? Im going to the bay tomorrow (mostly fluke and sea robbin's) and how would it work?

Well I must be doing somthing right becasue I caught 2 skates and 2 sea robbins with the reel and rod. I just used some 1oz sinkers and some shinners for bait. Skates put up alot bigger fight than I though.
