I know this may be stupid question..

When do you know o replace the throttle cable. I think mine may be sticking. After going forward then back to neutral...rpm say a bit high. But if I then put in reverse back to neutral rpms go back down to around 800(which is still high).

Sounds like a sticky throttle cable, or the return spring on the carb has fallen off or broken.....

Ayuh,...

Sounds like Bad Adjustment to Me.....

The cable should pull the throttle plates to Full Open at WOT,...
And,...
Should be slightly pushing the throttle fully Closed....at Idle...
