I put 10 gallons of gas in the main tank
but wanted to see consumption per hour connect an auxiliary tank
with other 5 gallons
but leave the water separator filter open because I no have a valve to close in this line
upon completion of the auxiliary gas tank and connect the main tank I got the surprise of my life in the halfway and without a drop of gas
empty tank
and the strange thing is that I felt no smell gas in the travel
it is possible that the tank is emptied by gravity???????????
because I had never a problem with the main tank

wondering if it is possible that the gas tank
can be emptied by gravity
for leaving the line disconnected.

A tank could certainly siphon itself dry through a hose if that is what you are asking. As for where your gas went - where was the disconnected end of the hose draining to?

Ayuh,.... That's the reason the CG Requires an anti-siphon valve on boat tanks....

If that's what happened, I'd guess yer's Don't have the required anti-siphon valve....

Nope, it's not just you.

+ 1.

If what you're saying is that you suddenly lost 10 gallons of gas (there one day, gone the next), and there's no smell, I'm thinking it was stolen.

Nope, it's not just you.

I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that English is a second language of the OP, Cuenta.
Punctuation would help, but some of it still gets lost in the translation. ;)

Cuenta, Bienvenido a iboats!:)

Did you check the bilge for gas or what is left of it? The bilge pump may have pumped it overboard if it's automatic?

I too had trouble following this description but if you tied the two tanks together and one is higher than the other, the higher tank will empty itself into the lower tank until the fuel level is the same in both tanks (or one becomes empty). This is why you never "T" two tanks together without a selector valve. Ever heard the term that liquids seek their own level?

You need to interpret! Cuenta is Spanish and lives on the wrong side of the country. As a Spanish speaking person he uses the syntax and grammar of his native language. You need to transpose verbs and nouns. Additionally, some words do not translate exactly eg. siphon--gravity. He is doing the best he can at this point.

What Cuenta did was to fill his main tank with gas but because he had no valve or closure, he left the water separator open. He was using an auxiliary tank to run the engine in order to measure fuel consumption. At the end of his test run he re-connected the main tank and to his surprise it was empty. His question is: Was it possible that the fuel was siphoned out of the main tank? Where did it go, because he did not smell gasoline during the test run.

And the answer given is probably the most logical: Yes, the fuel did siphon out of the tank, and very likely the bilge pump put it overboard.
