I love fishing Canadian waters!

Hello All,

I am from Saskatchewan, and love fishing in CANADA! The fishing is awesome up north and we get many many Americans coming up to enjoy our awesome northern fishing. I have met many Americans up at Lake La Plonge in Saskatchewan, and they come back year after year. I advise all Americans to try our Canadina waters for an amazing adventure. Other lakes that Americans love to vist are,

Lake Diefenbaker, Saskatchewan
Waskesiu, Saskatchewan
Tobin Lake, Saskatchewan
Lake La Ronge Saskatchewan

All trophy fish can be caught here, and many people love it up here.

What you say is true.I spent some time in northern Georgian Bay and loved it there.As for trophy fish,my own Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario are blessed with their own huge fish.

The fishing here in the states could be good too. The Division of wildlife here needs to get in gear and declare seasons for Bass Waleye Steelhead ect. Isn't that how the fishery is run up there in Canada and maybe why the fishing is better?
Here in my area people take buckets full of little 6 inch bass and waleye and say heck there's more meat there than a blugill. Sad thing about it is there's no limit on size or length on some lakes, let alone seasons. I'm not even going to start on the Amish and others but it's a shame that our fisheries aren't regulated better.

No seasons for specific fish here, just regulated times you can fish period. Just looking at my license and it's limited to:

South Sask. - May 3 2008 to March 31 2009
Central Sask. - May 17 2008 to March 31 2009
North Sask. - May 25 2008 to April 15 2009
Stocked trout lakes open May 3.

There are also number limits (lake/region specific) and slot size limits (again, lake/region specific). Each province takes care of their own rules and regulations. I do know in South Sask., specifically the fishing lakes (Echo, Pasqua, Mission, Katepawa), there aren't any slot size limits on the fish (up to the fisher person to decide) and the standard number limits for Saskatchewan apply. Head up to Nipawin/Tobin lake and slot size limits along with number limits apply. The slot size limits are probably most likely what causes Tobin Lake and the river to have constant trophy fish.

Most local people I have run in to here around the fishing lakes generally only keep what they can eat in one meal during the summer and keep only the mid sized fish (better meat), usually walleye or perch. Closer to winter some guys will keep their limit (especially perch when ice fishing) to fillet and freeze because they fish less over the winter months.

Most people don't realize it but Saskatchewan and eastern Alberta lakes are some of the best fresh water places in the world to fish. Hit up Tobin lake and the river (especially around Eagles Nest) and you can consistently catch 8+lb walleye until your shoulder is about to fall out of its socket. On the Waskesu lake just north and a little west of the boat rental place there is an area where you can catch your limit of pike, walleye, perch and whitefish all in a day. Depending on the weather patterns, the larger walleye move in to this area and makes for a ton of fun.

hi everyone , i was just reading where everyone goes to boat and fish . i live in southern ontario canada . iam about 15 minutes from mitchels bay on lake st.clair , some of the best boating and fishing around . i have seen alot of fancy bass boats from ohio here every weekend when bass season opens. where i live you are only aloud 6 bass per day and 6 walleye a day , and the walleye have to be a certain size or you have to let them go . plus starting this year you must have a operators card to operate a boat and motor or pwc . if you dont you are not going boating ..
