Re: I love my cats, but...
Magster65, I think what most of us are trying to say, is of course we are smarter than the cats, they are not the root of the problem. The Owners are the problem. SOME Owners, THINK NOTHING, of allowing their pets to roam freely, not having to deal with the nusience or the damage they cause. I also understood that BrianRedFish MAY have been talking about his own cats. If they are his own, this was my suttle way of making him realize that by keeping them contained and away from his boat, he may not only prevent further damage to his boat, but may prevent harm to the animals he loves. If they are not his cats he is talking about, I gave him the same advise I give people that make this same complaint to me on my job. Because, like it or not, there are people out in the public that after enough damage to their Boats, Vehicles, flower gardens, insulation being torn out from under trailers (to have litters) and countless nights without sleep hearing their mating screems. (Dogs Constantly Barking also apply) People usually try the first step. Call Animal Control. Usually you get the old, we will bring a trap, when one come available, (they usually add that they have a waiting list, and you may be in for a long wait, because there is so many Complaints). That is why I added that he may wish to purchase his own Cat Trap, because one may not be available though his Local Animal Control (If his area even has one). After a person looses enough sleep, and can not get help from the proper channels they tend to take matters into their own hands. Then the same people with no concearn for their Animals running loose to get run over, and reek havac, began screeming Animal Cruelty. I think it's more cruel to allow the Animal (That you love) to roam Unsupervised. I had a Neighbor that I had to press charges on approximatly 6 times in a 3 month period, about his Dogs and Cats being on My Property. (Front Yard, if they would have been in the back yard, my Dog would have taken care of the problem) They were Barking under my Bedroom Window, his cats spraying my wife's Hibiscus plants, and flower garden, getting on my Patrol Car, (If they would have gotten on my wife's Dodge, I told him to his face, what I'd do). He had a German Shepard, which constantly got out and would come under my carport and bark and growl at my wife, trying to get out of her truck coming home from work, and growling at her through the Storm door, while she was watching TV in our own living room. Again I marched over and told him that if his Shepard came on my property barking and growling at me, or agressivly came at one of my nieces, or growled at my wife again, that I WAS GOING TO SHOOT THE DOG WITH A SHOTGUN, and it would have been completely legal. So, the animals are just being animals, but why should LAW ABIDING TAX PAYING CITIZENS have to go and spend their hard earned money trying to find some way of keeping someone else's animals off their own property.

The problem with my neighbor ended with me using every legal means available, with many of my coworkers help, (other neighbors pressing charges also, and so much pressure, that the City Court ordered his animals picked up, because of having too many on his property. He still has the Shepard and a mixbreed Rottweiler, and what I told him earlier still goes. Point being that the avarage Citizen may not have the time to invest in using every legal means available. Remember this was 3 months of dealing with HIS PROBLEMS. I was trying to keep my job, by not shooting his animals. Trying to set a good example. The average person may just be driven to shooting and paying the fine if he gets caught. So the animal itself is not the problem, its the OWNER, and you can only charge them, if you KNOW who owns them. What do you think happens to all those animals that gets picked up, and the Owner won't come forward to claim it, because there is a fine waiting for them for Animal at Large. What do they usually do, go get them another little kitty that is so cute, while it is young, play with it, and once it grows up, they put it out, because the fun is over, and the breeding continues.

No really its not the animal that needs shooting, but if I were to say what I THINK needs shooting, (and I bet there are average people that would agree with me) I guess some folks would have a COW. With my luck it would end up on my front lawn.

Just one of GodsBeast's
