I am fortunate to have:
1. wonderful children
2. A good job that I like, work hard at and they treat me right.
3. 2 cars that run well.
4. Great friends and decent family(glad I live up here at times)
5. a nice rented(for now) roof over our heads.
6. My health
7. Paying off old bills and hope to again to be a home owner.
8. Some great prospects on a new girl friend
9. A 6 mo old cat who doesnt pee or poop except where he is supposed to.
10. Getting good deals on whatever I'm buying, food, DVD player, living w/in my means, no credit cards.
11. listening more to learn more.
12. being able to work from home yesterday when son had a barf fest, and him knowing that and being grateful for me cleaning up bathroom and sleeping by him by toilet.

and I thank God for it all, not that Im way religious

Great attitude & priorities EZ. And stick with the Little League as long as he likes it - was heavily in youth baseball with my son for a long time - best years of my (and I think his also) life. All Stars, Travel Leagues ect, ect - even played an expo game at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, NY. We both made life long friends. Gawd I miss those days - enjoy them with your little guy as long as you can

Thanks for posting!! As opposed to the "I hate my life" thread that seems to get all the reactions...
Good for you as a single Dad to make your kids life so important. I won't start a rant about how families without involved parents seem to line up to be the guests of honor on Springer.
It says a lot for a man these days to take responsibility and become involved. Alot more so than just bringing home a paycheck. Good luck, and trust me, your son will always know what a great Dad he has!

You guys are right... I'm happy too. I married the girl of my dreams, have a boat that runs, a decent job, and a very nice home......ohhhh I almost forgot, I have a new Tundra in the garage!

Yup we've done baseball since he was 4, just finished basketball, and ramping up again for baseball, he rocked at his tryout! He's a Lefty pitcher and 1st base!
Ya know, tomorrow is payday, and after paying all bills tonight, I have $125 left til check hits late tonight(have some savings too), course when my check stops getting garnished for 25% fpr paying exes attorney(even though I proved she lied, won in court, and CSS sent ME $ BACK for overpayment, and HER lawyers let her go, AND she faced NO consequence for lying in court....grrrr) we will be even better off either this paycheck or next! I cook almost every pm, take lunch to work/make sons, and the $900 Camry sure has paid off since I got it in Aug. and parked Yukon, fireplace is free and heats our place, putting off buying Xbox 360, just really watching expenses helps.
But ya know, about two years ago, just to get money coming in, I worked refinery construction, brutal work, kinda fun at times, but a whole lot less then I make now - son was PERFECTLY happy THEN....it aint about the money you make, it's what you keep at home and how creative you can get on very little....

I am with you, great wife of 29 years,2 young ladies(kids),health, dog, cat,boat,jet ski,house,great friends that let me keep water toys at their lake house,self employed what more can you ask for.Looking forward to see what tomorrow brings

Amen to that! Some one once told me many years ago (I don't remember who) That what you make (amount of money) is not nearly as important as what you do with it. The older I get, the more I realize how true that is.

Great thread, stay away from the doom and gloom of TV and print media and realize we still have the best country in the world. Why else is just about everyone else trying to get in here? A constitution that guarantees you the right to pursue happiness, and only you can make yourself happy. I for one have been blessed with far to much to state here. I am extremely grateful for my wife and kids, the rest is just material.

The reasons we find for being cheerfull would be a source of misery for the miserables.

So its got little to do with the reasons we may give.

We are happy, content and gratefull simply because...
we ARE happy, content and gratefull in the first place.
its our "state of being" from which all else eminates.

So what is the reason?
Look at the miserables for the reasons.
Anyone trying to control how other people live and think is going to have a very hard go of life. What they lack is a sense of something greater than thermselves.

I've got cancer, I'm still happy.
My boat is a peice of junk, hahaha still happy.
Business sucks, can't make money, still happy.
I have over $50K in medical bills, no insurance, I'm still happy.

My state of being, ie; happiness, is not dependant on "things" or life events.
It comes from somewhere..something else.

And I notice the original poster gave 12 reasons ,coincidence?
