I laughed so hard reading this that I just had to share it with my friends on this forum. I hope you can get the humor that I got from it. Still laughing by the way.

I love this Doctor!
UNFORTUNATELY PIC OF DOCTOR IS BELOW:

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?

A: Your heart only good for so many beats, and that it... Don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can't think of single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No pain...good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food are fried these day in vegetable oil. In fact, they permeated by it. How could getting more vegetable be bad for you?!?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming good for your figure, explain whale to me..

Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! 'Round' is shape!

Well... I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

AND.....

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3 The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans..

5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION:

Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

I am a heart patant and I find it halarious. Tell my heart that beatting at 200bpm is good for me is bad, I could die at anytime from a stroke so I no longer care about what I eat, drink, or other ingest. Oh did I tell you my Dr. says I am healthy as a horse except for a fib. First heart attack at 40 last on 2 weeks ago, I get so excited about it anymore that I just go to sleep. I use to ride 50 miles 3 times a week on my bike, paddle a canoe 5 miles several times a week, and swim for hours all summer long, Now I only do what I want am happier. Hey but after 15+ heart attacks guess I know my days are limited, so will die happy.

I'm assuming you have a internal defibrillator with that many attacks?

Re: I Love this doctor

Not yet on meds that don't work as well as they should, they want to go in and kill parts of my heart which I say no to. Nothing like one minute fine next minute heart is off to the races. If I pushed hard enough could be disabled but then would have no reason to live. I have figured out how to get heart back in rythem with little tricks of presure, but when you are up on a platform it goes racing BP drops it can turn bad quick. Learned to live with it, life is short but hey I started to die the day I was born.

My brother on eating greasy foods:

Grease? Lubricates the heart valves!

My thoughts on it:

Just make sure you drink lots of alcohol with your grease. Keeps it in solution so it doesn't gum things up too much.

Can't tell me its bad, because I've lived for the last 10 years on a pretty steady diet of greasy food and beer, and my cholesterol is 115, I'm closer to under weight than overweight, and my blood pressure is about 115/68. :)

I take it back. It is not funny to those of us cardiac patients who suffer ridicule from such insensitive demeaning garbage.

I'm 73 years old and I've had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, (both now under control through diet, medication and exercise) and at least one heart attack. And, although I too have seen it before, I still think it's funny.

One of my doctors who, himself, has a heart problems, says that if a lot of us guys with heart trouble and high blood pressure would learn to lighten up, relax and laugh at ourselves a little more often perhaps we wouldn't have to worry about heart problems to start with.

I suspect he's right.

I have no problem laughing at myself, Mel, nor do many who suffer the ridicule of insensitive "humor". It is being laughed at by others that offends some of us.

I will be 76 next month. I have two stents, a double bypass, a baloon angioplasty, surgical scars that run from my throat to my crotch, osteoporosis, a hiatal hernia, type 2 diabetes and a ruined knee.

I do not have high blood pressure, but staying alive is a 24/7 job and no danged fun. If you think all that is somehow funny you have my sympathy.

... but staying alive is a 24/7 job and no danged fun...

That's probably a big key to it JB. I don't have to work at staying alive and my problems aren't heart related at all. But about 6 years ago I wound up having a some surgeries to deal with my intestines. Lost a sizable chunk of 'em, and got my endocrine (hormone) system all screwed up. Now at 40 I sometimes function like I'm 70 ... and probably much like you, there are days when it just plain stinks.

The gag isn't particularly offensive, but it's not really that funny.

Re: I Love this doctor

Well, I don't really want to debate if it's funny or not, but I know I wouldn't have gotten through being sick without some humor here and there, especially from the doctors who were predominantly jerks. I got diagnosed with Lyme disease 4 years ago and I've been fighting it ever since... including two stints of 3 months of IV antibiotics, a semester off of college to recuperate, and being 5'11 and 115 pounds.. There is definitely an appropriate time for humor... when I went to class with an IV pole and someone made a disparaging comment that they perceived as funny... was not the time for humor. However, throughout my treatments (also including 8 subsequent months on oral antibiotics) it definitely helped to have a good laugh, even at my expense. I don't see the OP particularly funny... but I do not see it as incredibly offensive.. I also can sympathize with good days and bad days... I used to have seizures quite frequently and still have tremors to this day and some days wake up with a whole host of weird symptoms ranging from fevers to ringing in my ears and headaches. I too just want to keep myself healthy and in class like a normal student... I'm 20 and sometimes feel like I'm 80 with my weekly doctors' appts and taking upwards of 30 pills a day... Sorry for venting a little, but I got carried away.

No one in the history of the universe has ever said any of the above is "funny"...Obviously sarcastic quotes from a so called doctor about the "right way to live" isn't saying all of yours or anyone's maladies are funny...I'm "mostly" Italian and when I hear people talk about greasy wop's I don't feel a need to get offended...I find stereotypes hilarious, mostly because they are true...If people would lighten up the world would be a better place...
