Best advice I can give is to get a service/repair manual for the model engine you have. These wires go to the ignition and alternator.

Mower use a stator to supply the plug with spark. The wires are most likely from it. Usually only two wires though (power & ground). One may be an accessory wire if you have an electric start or for an option your mower didnt come with. Could be the coil wire too though.

To repair it you need to pull the flywheel. Be carefull not to lose the shaft key when you pull it off the crank. The stator bolts below it. Real easy.

I betcha a thousand bucks..........
That 2 of the three wires are for the AC lighting system. If the tractor had headlights then its probably an ac system.
the last wire is the stop wire for the coil. its going to be a basic TDI system.. only requiring a stop wire. get a DMM and see which 2 wires have about an ohm or less resistance between them... those are your ac wires.

Jason, pay up!:D

I would guess you have three wires: red, yellow, and black.

Red battery charging 12volts unregulated
Yellow 12volt ac for lighting
Black kill wire to the magneto ignition, grounds out to kill motor.

At least this is what the ones I have use. I hope this helps.
