Hi
Im new here
I thought I was stranded today on the White River
I floated down about 3 miles down from boat ramp, started the old motor
made it about a mile and she stoped let it cool and would run.
It took 3 times + it was windy. My TM saved me.
Im pretty sure the Impeller is shot. How much water should come out of the hole?? It just spits when idleing ?
I took the lower 1/2 off but cant get the SS screws out of the impeller cover.
Ive got 1 out think I will have to drill the heads off.

Can I get a Impeller for this old motor
Chrysler
model # 62 HE
ser. # 8310

By chance I need a pull rope assembly and a hood also

Hope someone can help
Thanks Ron

Hi Ron
Your motor is a 1972. If you do not already have, get a manual on it. Hope this helps. I have a 55HP Chrysler, and most of the water exits just below the cavitation plate on the gear housing (upper), which you cannot see because its below waterline. From the motor leg exhaust you can see water coming from there but it just spits out. I too thought I had a problem with my impeller at one time when I saw this. It just spits out. I am not saying you do not have a problem, but this is normal on alot of outboards. As for part, you can get in touch with Franz via his website www.franzmarine.com or his email address franzmarine@aol.com Everything I ever needed for my Chrysler he had. Also look out for the wizards of this site. They will be with you shortly and guide you thru anything or help you might need. AKA Frank A. he's the man.
Good luck

Im sure its over heating- I ran it in a 5gal. bucket with a water hose running 2 weeks ago and it over heated.
It sounded the same in the river Sunday.

Will a mercy impeller work if I cant find a chrysler?

Thanks Guys & Thanks for the link

I find that alot of parts I need, if I can get the chrysler part number (I have parts manual for my engine)and put an F in front of it thats the mercury part number. So yes, as long as its the right part number.

I took it to my farther in laws and he had a impact driver - got the screws out.
The impeller nubs were worn about 1/2 off and the under side was like gaulled / melted from heat. Ive order a new one.

My wife said something about getting a new motor  I about feel over  this cant be my wife .
Any how I called around and found a 9.9 manual start Mercury and bought it.

Im still going to fix my Chrysler I think it will be a good motor still need some parts for it pull rope assembley and cowlling.
I was talking to one of the service guys and he told me you should have a stream of water coming out all the time & he changes his impeller ever year no matter what.

Something just wanted to say - You know I called 4-5 places about a motor
most were not frendly- rude- never called back & so on .
I could have bought the motor local but I went to the only freindly dealer I found 1 1/2 hr drive one way. Its like no one wants to mess with you unless your spending $30,000.

Thanks for the info.
