I NEED A MOTOR

[Tahiti]

I own a 1969 17' tahiti. It is rated for a 115hp. I would like to know how much HP I can throw on the back. I am thinking no more than 135? Does anybody have a motor for sale in the 115 to 135 hp range? I am restoring the boat so I need a motor in good/excelent condition.

For old outboards, I would look at Ebay. I have seen several good motors given away. Well, sold for less than $1,000. Some great buys. <br /><br />I too would not exceed the boats rating. It will go plenty fast with boats rated maximum and why risk it for 5mph. <br /><br />Arlan
