i'm in bad need of a new boat cover. the one i have is a titan boat cover. they don't seem to made anymore.
what my biggest problem is. finding a cover that i think will cover the side of the boat. i know our beam is 80''. but with the hardtop. i think it's closer to 102''. 102'' beam is the widest cover's i can find and i'm concerned that this won't cover the boat's beam...
what do you have that works good.
i want a pretty good cover. breaths, sheds water, uv resistant etc.
here's the way i store my boat durning lay up.

i use a beach ball on the bow, a poll with a triangle to support the aft and a small beach ball on the hardtop.. it sheds water will with this method. i just need a new cover.

any insight?

these are the varieties i'm looking at. just not wide enough i don't think....

nobody has any info as to what cover to get to cover a Nineteen with????

i'd get a custom made cover but they are in the $800 range to get one made up proper... i need something cheaper if possible.

See Aristocraftboats.com in Atlanta. They're still in business providing parts for owners and making a retro-version of one of their 1950's boats.

They may can tell you of a brand and model of a cover that'll work.

I also had a 1969 Aristocraft with a 140 hp Mercruiser from 1974-1980. Great hull/terrible engine-outdrive experience. My uncle had one with the 165 hp Chevy engine that was newer and much more reliable than mine.

I am using a gold series cover, I feel that it works very well. Mine is stored very similar to how yours is stored.

from a mercruiser drive application chart. that should have had a mc-1 drive. pre-alpha if ya wanna call it that. same drive that all the mercurisers from the era came with. bummer it gave ya trouble. maybe someone neglected pm on it and caused it to fail. imho, i/o's are just plain maintenance intensive. my next boats gonna be a funliner o/b. maybe.....
well i finally did something about my cover.
i went to menards locally and got me a gulf stream cover. 5 year warranty, 600 denier, whatever that means.
the one i got is for a 20'-22' boat w/ 100'' beam. silver was the only color choice.

1st observation is that i maybe should have got the next size smaller. however one size smaller had a 96'' beam. since i was concerned about side to side coverage, i'll live with the extra at both ends. it don't bother me that my winch and my drive/gimble housing are covered. surely more covered is better (justification).
2nd observation, it has one more set of tie down points that my old cover. 11 points in all. i usually use bungee cords but this cover came with straps to tie to the trailer with. they seem a little more teadious than bungees, but i'll live with it for now. i can always go back to bungees if i feel so inclined.
3rd observation, this is a trailerable boat cover. it included more straps, 4 or 5 for tiedown completely over the cover for trailering. i'll likely never use this function. i trailer w/o a cover.
4th observation, the cover seems light weight and has no extra sewed in padding for wear points, ie windshield. the instructions recommend duck taping padding at wear points, ie a sponge, rags, etc. the way i got it now is put over the old cover. might leave it as is for winter, but when it's summer and i'm using the boat i'm gonna have to come up with something for wear points. duck tape? really? pretty lame idea from the oem imho.

next is to see if it leaks, i've been lucky here in ne. for keeping rain out. were in a drought like most folks. good for keeping rain out, bad for water levels at the lake. branched oak is way down right now.

cost was $107.

so at this point. surely i'm better off than i was with the old cover. time will tell as to how well it really works. it does say it's water proof and breathable also...

Hey ziggy. Something we have found useful to do when covering the boats is to run a line from the back right lift eye; over the top to and through the front lift eye; then back to the back left eye and pull and tie it tight. Then when you put the cover over top of it, it helps it from sagging and pooling water. I have some recent 9teen project photos I need to post. Gotta get caught up on here now that winter is almost here!

As a boat cover fabricator I would recomend a polyester either solution dyed or vynil coated minimum 9oz thickness or you will be buying a cover every couple of years. A custom cover for a boat like yours is about $500, and should last about 8 to 10 years. see if you can find a local canvas guy the smaller the shop the better, Less overhead. A couple of guys I know work out of a trailer.

great idea Aristocraft. since i've got a system in place, i'll probably keep using it though. i use a large beach ball on the ft. deck. a small beach ball on the hardtop and a pole with a flat plate to support the cover right in ft. of the dog house. this also works well.

looking forward to seeing those... i still can't get enough of nineteens.

i wanted to do custom, but just didn't have the bread. best i can see, locally, lincoln has one shop that makes boat covers. i checked him out and he wanted $800 round abouts to fix me up. i just didn't have the bread, hence my cheap alternative. thanks for the info on types of material to be using though. that will come in handy when i need the next cover in a year or two (asmuming it won't last for being cheap).
