That would be good to know. 1987 90HP EV. It looks like the guy I bought it from was running around without a zinc i.e. corrosion.

Some aftermarket motors are better built than others. There is a HongKong company that has entered market recently. I got one of their samples for 1976 Evinrude PTT. It is a well built product. US companies have yet to take full advantage of epoxies and resins in their motors. Some of them are still built using 1960's techniques. The Taiwan company has made good use of epoxies, plastics, and resins. The result with regards to the particular motor I disassembled was that it was much cheaper than Arco/Sierra but much better built. Personally I don't trust stuff made on mainland china to last more than a week (if that) and there is no way I would ever put Chinese cr*p on my car or boat. But this one company is not on mainland china and they seem to be building good stuff. Might be worth looking into if you are needing a new trim motor.
